The Apprentice started last week on the BBC with the first episode being hosted at the New Covent Garden Marke. Lord Sugar gave the sixteen hopefuls £250 to invest in fresh fruit and vegetables and, as per the usual formula, return a profit.
The young entrepreneurs tried their luck haggling with the CGMA traders before preparing freshly squeezed orange juice, soup, fruit salad and vegetarian pasta - to sell to the unsuspecting London public throughout the day.
You can watch the first episode on the BBC I-Player.
BrightLemon and the New Covent Garden Market
The New Covent Garden Market is based around an active community of over 2,500 traders and businesses which are offered dedicated support and promotion by CGMA.
Having approached BrightLemon for a new website, it was this community aspect they wanted to include - offering traders the ability to communicate, interact and advertise their services.
Developed in close collaboration with the New Covent Garden Market team, the online community acts as a hub of communication for all New Covent Garden traders, visitors and customers and features a traders' directory, events, galleries and a range of useful features.
Interesting facts
- Lord Sugar was a former market trader himself once
- This is the third time The Apprentice has come to the market, including the first ever series
- New Covent Garden Market is 57 acres and is home to approximately 200 fruit, vegetable and flower companies
