what is xhtml?
Extensible Hyper Text Markup Language (XHTML) is an extension of HTML. It is a combination of HTML and XML. HTML was designed to display data and XML to describe the data. It is a much stricter version of HTML. As such, many consider XHTML to be the "current version" of HTML, but it is a separate, parallel standard; the W3C continues to recommend the use of either XHTML 1.1, XHTML 1.0, or HTML 4.01 for web publishing.
advantages of xhtml
There are many advantages to using XHTML. It is very extensible by making it simpler to change the language of the document. XHTML documents can also be formatted to be displayed on any number of different handheld devices.
The disadvantage of using XHTML is that some web editors are not XHTML compatible.
