what is html?

Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is a text based document cotaining code used to present text and graphics to the World Wide Web. It is used by web browsers to present the existing information on the internet. HTML documents are the web pages created and intended for personal use by all that are able to access internet sites.
Originally defined by Tim Berners-Lee and further developed by the IETF, HTML is now an international standard (ISO/IEC 15445:2000).
Later HTML specifications are maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) .
