what is sybase?
The word Sybase commonly refers to Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) , the flagship relational database system of Sybase Inc. software company (who specialize in relational database management systems and database-related products). Sybase became the number 2 database system behind Oracle, after making a deal with Microsoft to share the source code for Microsoft to remarket on the OS/2 platform as "SQL Server".
Since the version 12.0 , ASE supports Java, high availability and distributed transaction management. ASE 12.5 was released in 2001 providing features such as dynamic memory allocation and support for XML and SSL among others. Support of an EJB container within the database server along with efficient in-memory connections to the database engine, suggests an object-oriented access to the relational data.
