The requirement

ISPA needed a totally redesigned web site to:

  • Cater for its members.
  • Be a useful online resource.
  • Be a clearer channel of communication.

It also required an easier method for the various membership applications.

In a combined effort by Brightlemon and Parker, Wayne and Kent the ISPA site was redesigned to give ISPA members a single point of access to the many benefits they receive.

The ISPA site was a perfect candidate for a redesign having started out as an online brochure consisting of static html pages. Over the course of a few years this grew to over 250 pages spanning topics on everything from Data Protection to Viruses and Spam to Internet Security. Obviously the old design was not built to cope with the huge volume of information now available to members.

the solution

case study  1. web site redesign
  • The first step was to reorganise the site content into logical, intuitive sections. Once this was done it was clear what the main sections would be on the home page. Involving the client in this step of the process proved to be vital in achieving the objective on a number of levels.

    A checklist of existing problems to solve helped to mould the plan for implementing both the front-end design and site back-end.

    The ISPA web site has been completely redesigned to create several channels for various users and stakeholders.

    There are many aspects to take into consideration when evaluating an existing website: overall strategy; functionality; download time; ease of navigation; usefulness of content; graphic presentation; contact, support & feedback level; search engine optimisation.

    Quick jump menus for fast access;
    An online press office;
    An online newsletter facility with automated email subscription;
