BrightLemon attended a great event last night which was hosted by the Lullabot team. Addison Berry, Angie Byron and Randy Fay put together a very friendly and inviting environment.
The format of the meetup was great, with people doing lightning talks on problems, interesting ideas and new solutions – all of which was facilitated in a fun and friendly way. We managed to skim the surface of many topics and it was especially great to see each level of knowledge be accepted and discussed, from beginner to advanced, everybody got involved.
Thanks for the best meetup this year Lullabot!
I noted down some interesting topics which we discussed, if any of the talkers want to expand on these; please feel free to contact us.
Randy Fay (Lullabot) - GIT
- Explained that Drupal.org is moving over to GIT very shortly and discussed the benefits when compared with other version controls. For more details on GIT view - http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/git
Chris and Julian (Talis) - RDF
- Gave a good introduction and overview of RDF along with examples of RDF code. They explained the benefits that RDF can bring and gave some online examples, including Facebook and IMDb. For more details on RDF view - http://drupal.org/taxonomy/term/116
Steve Parks (Pilot internet + Drupal Radar) - Aegir
- Explained and introduced the premise behind Aegir and how it can pull already made features, modules and basic platforms with ease. Randy Fay made a good point, apparently the whole Aegir team pronounce ‘Aegir’ differently – so everybody can call it what they want. Graham Taylor - Views 3
- Showed some working examples of views 3 along with the benefits they bring for API’s and plug-ins. For more details on Views 3 see - http://drupal.org/node/646284
